Paul’s trio/quartet plays a selection of the cool jazz standards blended with songs from Sting, Jamiroquai, Michael Buble, Bob Marley and others.
The quartet has been described as “jazz with a twist of lime..” Paul’s Jamaican influences along with the latin grooves often associated with jazz make for a most appealing “cocktail” that covers Reggae, Jazz, Funk, Calypso and to some degree Pop music.
Paul is the main vocalist also playing some hand percussion and guitar. Cathy is the pianist with occasional backing vocals. Sometimes we have special guest Leigh Maizels on Piano. Dave plays double bass. Rob Maizels on drums.
Paul Jamieson has held a long term residency at Crown Casino and has recently returned there, also having performed at countless venues and festivals including The Chifley, The Sheraton, Menzies Rialto, Abel Tasman, Spirit of Tasmania, Lassetters Casino, Apollo Bay Festival, The St.Kilda Festival and more.
Cathy Connor has also performed in distinguished Melbourne venues such as Crown Casino, Dizzy’s (well known Jazz venue), The Hilton and numerous hotels and restaurants. Performing in all combinations – as a solist, in a duo, quartet, 5 piece band and so on. Cathy is also an achieved music teacher and stage director.
Dave Wright was active in the Canadian jazz scene appearing at many jazz clubs there.
Dave moved to Melbourne five years ago and has spent most of his time playing for Orchestras and has regular jazz gigs on the Mornington Peninsula.
Rob Maizels has been a member of Dave's trio for a number of years.
Equipment
Where needed the band can provide their own P.A. and some lighting. They are courteous and professional in their conduct and play for the audience as much as themselves.
